UPDATE: 2020-2021 BASKETBALL SEASON

UPDATE ON 2020-2021 BASKETBALL (October 29, 2020)

The Episcopal Bishop for West Tennessee has notified the Episcopal churches that we will need to put our plans on hold for the 2020-2021 basketball season due to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in Shelby County and the surrounding areas.

After careful planning for our 2020-2021 basketball season, we are disappointed, but Grace-St. Luke’s Church is still committed to offering a basketball season, if possible.

The Bishop will re-visit her decision in January of 2021.  We will keep you informed as to whether Grace-St. Luke’s Church is able to offer a basketball program in early 2021.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

                                                Sincerely,

Our MISSION is to provide: player development through teaching sport fundamentals, athletic competition in a Christ-centered environment, teaching sportsmanship through meaningful playing time, coaching leadership, developing deeper friendships with players, parents and coaches and valuing the safety and wellbeing of all sports participants.

ALL TEAM ROSTERS WILL CHANGE FROM SEASON TO SEASON.  The leagues we play in request balanced teams by age, grade and ability.  They encourage players to play on different teams to experience a variety of coaching and player styles.  Our players include GSL Church and School Parishioners and Students and many participants from the community and surrounding areas. Our policy is that each child play a minimum of 50% per game, e.g. a player will play a minimum of 2 quarters of a 4 quarter game

*Efforts are made with GSL Coaches and Leagues to accommodate multiple (overlapping) GSL Sports.  Please refer to the GSL Church “Fairness Policy” (included on the online registrations and under "policies" on sports website) if you have any questions about practice attendance and game playing time.

1st-4th Grades play in the ESCRA League and games are Saturday mornings from 9am-3pm.  Game times will vary week to week.  Games are in the GSL "Saints" Gym and in gyms located around the city.
