It’s hard to believe the summer months are behind us in parish life. Like many communities of faith that offer a robust variety of formation programs and special events, September at GSL marks the beginning of countless offerings for adults, youth, and children to further nurture spiritual journeys. It also increases chances to make connections with other parishioners.
The newly released “Fall 2019 Formation and Worship Offerings” is the product of summertime work by the clergy-staff team to provide choices that might support members, newcomers, and visitors on their journey with God. Based on feedback between Fall 2018 through Spring 2019 about what many adults would enjoy between fall, winter, and spring, the scheduled programs intend to offer variety, intellectual stimulation, growth, and even encourage deeper discipleship for participants. As well, the Journey to Adulthood, confirmation classes, EYC, Project Purpose, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, and Infant and Toddler Center spaces and times for youth and children are ready for engagement! All of this, in concert with Sunday and Wednesday services of Holy Communion, are available for access in this new season in life at GSL.
On Sunday, September 8, all are invited to “Rally Day: Celebrate Life at GSL” as a way to learn more about our vestry commission areas (athletics, congregational development, fellowship, formation, outreach, pastoral care, stewardship, worship) and opportunities to offer time and talent to support their purposes. Together, each ministry area has a part in helping us to focus on our vision to be a thriving community of hope, belonging, and healing through worship, parish life, and service, and who rejoices in the love of Jesus to transform the world.
In September and beyond, it is my prayer that we will offer ourselves, souls, and bodies, even more, into life at GSL to be strengthened for service to God and one another in Christ.
Godspeed and blessings as we try,
– The Reverend Ollie V. Rencher, Rector
