The Feast of The Incarnation: Christmas Eve

Dear GSL Friends in Christ:

This message confirms that GSL will offer Christmas liturgies today at 3, 5, and 9 p.m. and tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. Each will also be available via livestream (gracestlukes.org/live). The nursery will not be available today but will be tomorrow. For children who might like them, fidget toys are available at the entrances to the nave. Our sacred space is beautifully adorned with the "Christ" Candle, Crèche, Crismon tree, and flowers, and will be most enriched by common worship and praise of the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ. It will be great to have all ages gathered for worship in person and online!

Thanks to the dedicated work of volunteers, staff, and clergy coupled with sunshine, church building accessibility is safe. While the Circle parking lot has been salted and ice is melting, please exercise caution upon entering the lot and exiting and returning to cars. The same is important for street parking and in the South Peabody lot, which has not been salted. Most importantly, please do whatever is necessary to take good care including staying home and being a part of the online worship community. If you would like to make a Christmas donation or 2023 Every Member Canvass pledge, visit gracestlukes.org/give.

I pray that you and yours are well and am mindful of the countless people throughout the Memphis region and nation who are not in this current season of inclement weather. Join me in giving thanks for all initiatives that are extending care to any who are destitute including GSL More Than A Meal to be offered on Christmas Day at 4 p.m. If your household needs any assistance from a member of the clergy-staff team, contact us (directory). The 24/7 Clergy-On-Call phone number for hospital or pastoral emergencies is 901-252-6334.

A Collect for Christmas: O God, you make us glad by the yearly festival of the birth of your only Son Jesus Christ: Grant that we, who joyfully receive him as our Redeemer, may with sure confidence behold him when he comes to be our Judge; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Gratefully and faithfully,

The Rev. Ollie V. Rencher, Rector

Grace-St. Luke’s Church buildings are closed today with clergy and staff working remotely via phone and email. (https://www.gracestlukes.org/welcome/clergy-and-staff)

Currently, we are planning for Christmas Eve services to proceed as scheduled while paying close attention to road and power conditions. Stay tuned for updates along the way, spread the word, and take good care.
