A Gratitude Message from the Wardens and the Rector
Friday, September 10, 2021

Life at Grace-St. Luke’s Church thrives, thanks to you! We wish to express deep gratitude for all that you are and offer to support life at GSL. Since entering the COVID-19 pandemic, we are blessed that membership and community have increased. This extraordinary news is due to 17 baptisms, the confirmation, reception, and reaffirmation of 23 adults and youth on the Day of Pentecost 2021, the addition of about 25 new members, a rising number of visitors, weekly More Than A Meal and new leaders to work on reopening the Food Pantry, involvement in MICAH (Memphis Interfaith Coalition for Action and Hope) and Sacred Ground, and welcoming The Memphis Boy, Girl, and Chamber Choirs organization to GSL. All of this and more is keeping us strong.

Celebration Sunday, September 12, will be a perfect time to gather at GSL, and the 10:30 a.m. service will be available virtually; details are in this week's eNews. September 19 resumes the Sunday Parish Hall Forum speakers for adults, classes for youth and children, three worship services, and fellowship; details are in Life at GSL – Fall 2021 Guide to Worship, Christian Formation, Connecting & More and The Messenger magazine.

GSL Thrives, Thanks To You. Your monetary commitments through pledging, alms, and one-time contributions collectively make it possible for us to offer God’s ministry in and through GSL. Our gratitude is constant for each gift, especially as we seek to maintain operations. Thanks to your gifts to the 2021 campaign, Resilience and Connection by Giving, we are prospering and have more needs. Now, we are recruiting an additional full-time priest to assist with increasing pastoral care needs, Sunday and weekday liturgical and formation duties, and more congregational life programming to meet the growing needs of individuals and households. If you have not pledged, please pledge online, by hand-delivery, or by mail. If you wish to increase your pledge for clergy personnel or other purposes, please email Director of Operations and Finance Keaton Morris (kmorris [at] gracestlukes [dot] org) or call 901-252-6324. If you are unable to pledge or give financially, please email Membership and Stewardship Associate Chapman Morrow (cmorrow [at] gracestlukes [dot] org) or call 901-252-6328. In October, we’ll launch the 2022 Every Member Canvass process. All financial giving benefits the ever-increasing expenses of a thriving community.

GSL Thrives, Thanks To You. It’s hard to believe where we’ve been, where we are, and the possibilities of what’s ahead in life at GSL. Since the COVID-19 pandemic has changed our approach to “being the Church,” we have been resilient and trusting in God’s abundance. We have reached out to and cared for one another - friend and stranger alike. While many have begun to return to GSL buildings and grounds for worship and more, many have not returned for a variety of reasons associated with health and other conditions, which might change when the time is right. We are glad about any way that one stays connected to our home.

GSL Thrives, Thanks To You. We look forward to an even richer future in ministry and hope to see and hear from you. Together, we are stronger and ever faithful as the Church.

Gratefully on behalf of the Vestry,
