A Pastoral Message from The Rector
The Reverend Ollie V. Rencher
Ben Wesley Emerson (1958-2020)
Dear Friends in Christ: I write to inform you that Wesley Emerson, Grace-St. Luke’s Organist-Choirmaster from August 20, 1986, to June 2, 2019, died last night due to complications associated with his battle with cancer. Over the last several months and especially within the last couple of weeks, Wesley has been surrounded by close friends and visited by the Rev. Meredith Day and me, and long-relationship clergy friends. A Requiem Eucharist will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 18, at Grace-St. Luke's Episcopal Church followed by a Reception in Trezevant Hall.
Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend your servant Wesley. Acknowledge, we humbly beseech you, a sheep of your own fold, a lamb of your own flock, a sinner of your own redeeming. Receive him into the arms of your mercy, into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in light. Amen. May his soul and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Almighty God, look with pity upon the sorrows of your servants for whom we pray. Remember them, Lord, in your mercy; nourish them with patience; comfort them with a sense of your goodness; lift up your countenance upon them; and give them peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
