The Daily Office, Devotions and Prayers. The Daily Office of The Book of Common Prayer 1979 is an ancient tradition of four daily services appointed with a specific set of prayers and readings for each: Morning Prayer, Noonday Prayer, Evening Prayer and Compline. If you are interested in a disciplined liturgy, daily or occasionally, explore some forms of prayer here. Seasonally, options are provided on our Spiritual Guidance page. Below is from The Daily Office material provided by Forward Movement followed by Daily Devotions for Families and Individuals. Prayers from many other resources also are maintained on this page.

PRAYERS
A Prayer attributed to St. Francis of Assisi: Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
