MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE TO THE LORD, ALL THE EARTH.
Joining in Grace-St. Luke's glorious music ministry is easy. For centuries, the psalms have invited believers to bring our praises to God in song, and you can start on any given Sunday by picking up the hymnal to join in song. If you are interested in becoming more involved in the musical offerings of Grace-St. Luke's, there are numerous opportunities.
The Grace-St. Luke's Choir
Open to adult and teen volunteers and enhanced by semi-professional and professional singers, this ensemble is responsible for choral leadership at the Sunday 10:30 AM service and seasonal services. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 (September-May) and Sunday morning at 9:30.
The Grace-St. Luke's Summer Choir
Between June and August, adult and teen parishioners, who enjoy singing and can meet with the Director of Music and Organist or the Assistant Organist-Choirmaster for an informal audition, are invited to participate. Rehearsals are on Sunday mornings at 9:30 in preparation for the 10:30 service.
Friends of Music
The Friends of Music fund makes it possible to enhance music for worship with guest instrumentalists namely on feast days and special occasions and to offer concerts and special events throughout the year. Gifts may be made in honor or memory of loved ones or in general by visiting www.gracestlukes.org/onlinegiving or contacting Director of Music and Organist Patrick Scott via email (pscott [at] gracestlukes [dot] org) or 901-252-6323.
Children and Youth Choirs
For children and youth, participation in choirs stimulates the mind and builds discipline, confidence and self-esteem. Grace-St. Luke's two youth choirs rehearse and perform throughout the academic year. Click here to learn more about Grace-St. Luke's youth choirs.
The Grace-St. Luke's Choir is often joined by strings, brass, percussion, soloists, and other guest musicians who further contribute to a rich and glorious Sunday morning experience.
For more information on any Grace-St. Luke's music program, please contact Dr. Patrick A. Scott, Director of Music & Organist, at 901-252-6323, or by email (pscott [at] gracestlukes [dot] org).
The Belvedere Chamber Music Festival is produced by Luna Nova Music and is hosted annually by Grace-St. Luke's. The mission of the festival is to perform masterpieces of 20th century music as well as new works by emerging composers.
In addition to performances, the festival also offers educational opportunities for young composers and performers through lectures, masterclasses, and private instruction.
