Music

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.

Joining in Grace-St. Luke's glorious music ministry is easy. For centuries, the psalms have invited believers to bring our praises to God in song, and you can start on any given Sunday by picking up the hymnal and joining in.

If you are interested in becoming more involved in the musical offerings of Grace-St. Luke's, there are numerous opportunities.

Choirs at GSL are open to anyone desiring to sing, regardless of church or school affiliation.

The Grace-St. Luke's Chancel Choir

Open to adults, Chancel Choir is responsible for vocal leadership at the Sunday 10:30 AM service and other special services throughout the year. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 and Sunday morning at 9:30.

The Grace-St. Luke's Summer Choir

Although the core of the summer choir is the GSL Chancel Choir, all are invited to participate with rehearsals on Sunday mornings at 9:30.

The Music Guild

Monetary gifts to the Music Guild fund special musical events throughout the year.

Children and Youth Choirs

For children and youth, participation in choirs stimulates the mind and builds discipline, confidence and self-esteem. Grace-St. Luke's two youth choirs rehearse and perform throughout the academic year. Click here to learn more about Grace-St. Luke's youth choirs.

Guest Musicians

The Grace-St. Luke's Chancel Choir is often joined by strings, brass, percussion, soloists, and other guest musicians who further contribute to a rich and glorious Sunday morning experience.

The Belvedere Chamber Music Festival

The Belvedere Chamber Music Festival is produced by Luna Nova Music and is hosted annually by Grace-St. Luke's. The mission of the festival is to perform masterpieces of 20th century music as well as new works by emerging composers.

In addition to performances, the festival also offers educational opportunities for young composers and performers through lectures, masterclasses, and private instruction.

To celebrate GSL's Tiffany Windows, Luna Nova Music commissioned five composers to write new works inspired by these beautiful treasures. These were premiered during the 2010 Festival. Links to the performances are below.

John Baur, Tiffany Annuciation (flute, clarinet, bassoon, horn, cello, piano)
James Carlson, Ascension (organ)
Andrew Drannon, Ascension Syndrome (organ)
Robert Patterson, Windows for Children (violin, horn, clarinet, bassoon, organ, singers)
Mark Volker, Sculpted Light (flute, clarinet, bassoon, horn, piano, and cello)
