Calling a New Rector

After the departure of Grace-St. Luke’s rector in the summer of 2007, the parish worked with Bishop Don Johnson to establish an intentional
interim period. Under the leadership of an intentional interim rector, The Rev. Dr. Ron DelBene, we have undertaken a period of self-assessment and reflection.

Today, we know we are a deeply devout parish that cherishes the spiritual nourishment and the liturgical beauty of our worship.

Today, we know we are also a community with essential programs and structures that must be managed, strengthened, and nurtured.

Today, we know we are a neighborhood, urban parish with extraordinary opportunities to draw strength from a strong, eclectic neighborhood and an exceptional and growing school.

Today, we know we are eager to begin our next chapter.

The Vestry Charge

The search committee has been given a very specific charge by the parish vestry that represents the culmination of the intentional interim process. The charge is brief and clear.

It is the expectation of the vestry that the next rector will be a priest committed to creating an engaging and nurturing Sunday morning experience, and that the next rector will possess experience with leadership and management at a program-size parish. Recognizing that Grace-St. Luke’s Episcopal School, a pre-kindergarten through eighth grade coeducational day school with an enrollment of 500 students, is a primary mission of the parish, it is also the expectation of the vestry that the next rector will continue to support, sustain, and strengthen this Church/School relationship.

This three-fold charge sets the key priorities of our search.
