VBS 2017 In the Books

Despite farewells to a beloved priest, scheduling challenges, technical difficulties, and a week-long power outage leading up to the big week, VBS came together beautifully and a great time was had by all. It turns out this year’s theme was a fitting one: Jesus and His Miracles!

49 children spent their mornings learning about five of the amazing things Jesus did to show God’s power and love to the world – changing water into wine, giving sight to Bartimaeus, the miraculous catch of fish, walking on water, and healing the ten lepers. Through music, scavenger hunts, crafts, skits, and even snacks, VBS kids explored each of these stories and took home the lesson that God’s love for us overcomes even the biggest of challenges, and makes impossible things possible.

We are so thankful for the many friends who helped make this year’s VBS a success. It truly does take a village to put on an event like this, and our village at GSL always answers the call. From the sign-in table, snack prep and clean up, to children’s group leaders, crafts, skits and recreation, 9 parishioners, 17 church staff members, and 18 high school volunteers played a part in this year’s program. We appreciate each one and look forward to another wonderful week next year!
