Troop 34 Hikes "River-to-River"
December 28th, 2009
One of Grace-St. Luke's Boy Scout Troop's recent camping trips was to southern Illinois to hike the River-to-River Trail, located in the Shawnee National Forest. Twenty-two scouts and leaders from Troop 34 split into three groups to hike this fascinating trail.
The trail has much historical significance, and Scouts considered the hopes and dreams of those who first immigrated to Illinois as they viewed the new land and began the search for their place in this wilderness. Some of the beautiful vistas and gorgeous valleys of those early days can still be seen.
