Rector Search Committee Processing 200 Candidates
January 2nd, 2010
Since the Parish Profile and Rector Search web page were launched in October, Grace-St. Luke’s has had extraordinary interest in our search. Take a look at the candidate-recruitment phase by the numbers:
500+ visits to our “Rector Search” web page from 41 states
150 candidates that meet our general criteria were provided by the Episcopal Clergy Deployment Office
30+ self-applicants from across the country
30+ candidates from committee research/networking
10+ referrals from the GSL community
Now the committee has begun working diligently to process these candidates while ensuring each gets adequate consideration of their fit for our needs. The narrowing will occur as each candidate is either eliminated or progresses to the next level of consideration:
- Around 200 candidates in all will be considered. So far, around 100 of these have been removed from consideration.
- 20 to 30 of these candidates will be asked to answer written questions. So far, the committee has asked 8 candidates to answer written questions.
- 10 to 20 candidates will be interviewed by phone and/or videoconference. The committee has selected 3 candidates for phone interviews, so far.
- 3 to 5 candidates will be reference checked, visited in their home parishes, and invited to visit GSL. No candidates have been selected yet for visits.
- 1 candidate will be presented to the vestry.
You can follow the Search Committee's progress in the rector search section of the website. The committee will continue to provide updates here, in the Messenger, and in Sunday services as members work prayerfully through the discernment process with this large number of candidates.
