New PDO Director, Fall Enrollment continues

I am happy to announce that Holly Hawkins is the new director of Parents’ Day Out (PDO) at GSL. Holly comes to us from Hope Presbyterian Preschool, where she was working as a teacher. Holly has an extensive background in both elementary school and day school environments. She also has a B.S. in Early Education from the University of Memphis. Just as importantly as her background and education, Holly was the unanimous choice of the search committee that interviewed prospective candidates over the course of this summer. Kim Weiss chaired the committee, which also included Ruth Patton, Margaret McLean (a PDO parent), and the Reverend Brian Ponder (representing the GSL staff). They did great work. I also want to thank Jennifer Vest from Miss Lee’s (at GSL School), who gave considerable input to the committee regarding both the job description for the new PDO director and recommendations for the future wellbeing of the program. Our Vestry also did great work in
establishing and empowering the search committee. Upon arrival, I was given Holly’s name by the search committee with a detailed report about why she is the person to lead PDO. After interviewing her and checking her references, I concurred wholeheartedly. Holly began work on  August 11. Welcome, Holly! The Reverend Richard Lawson
