Dear Parish Members:
Your Vestry is thrilled to share that two outstanding priests will be joining Grace-St. Luke's this fall. The Reverend Dr. W. Taylor Moore Jr. and the Reverend John Burruss will begin in September, and they will assist us during the transition while the Search Committee continues its work.
The Reverend Moore is the recently retired rector of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Oxford, MS. He has a wealth of experience leading churches from Maryland to Mississippi, and will provide stability and wisdom alongside our preaching staff. Reverend Moore will take the rector’s position in the preaching rotation and will offer pastoral care, administration and general assistance as needed during the week.
The Rev. Canon John Burruss is the Canon for Sustainable Ministries in the Diocese working to implement Bishop Johnson's vision for developing new ministries in our congregations and communities in West Tennessee. Reverend Burruss was previously the Vicar of Church of the Annunciation in Cordova. While he will continue to support the different congregations and special projects of the Diocese, we are delighted he is able to assist Grace-St. Luke's with school chapel, as he currently has two children enrolled in Grace-St. Luke’s School.
Please welcome them with Grace-St. Luke's-style open arms, and we look forward to sharing more progress from the Search Committee at the Rector's Forum on October 15.
