Food Pantry Needs Mount in December

December 7th, 2009

The Grace-St. Luke’s Food Pantry distributes a three-day supply of groceries on an emergency basis to families in crisis. For many families who are facing trauma and who are not (yet) homeless, food pantry assistance can bridge the need to recovery or more long-term assistance.

And thanks to the generosity of our community, the food pantry is also able to provide important supplies to familes that aren't food, but are equally important to their success.

Can you imagine not being able to afford toothpaste? Toilet tissue?

In December, these needs are mounting, and the food pantry is looking for the following items, to help brighten the Christmas season for food pantry clients:

  • toothpaste
  • toilet paper
  • kleenex
  • feminine products
  • paper napkins and towels
  • small sizes of shampoo, soap, lotions and mouthwash
  • single-serving sizes of jello, fruit, pudding and fruit drinks
  • disposable razors and shaving cream
  • tea and coffee bags
  • baby food and lotions
  • diapers of any size and wipes

As you shop for loved ones this season, please consider shopping for those with needs that many of us can't imagine.

Donations may be left on the table outside of the food pantry (near the LeMaster entrance to Trezevant Hall).
