Volunteer For Outreach

Join us as we reach out to neighbors in need.

For all of us, likely, it is a struggle to live a Christ-like life of compassion and service to "the least of these." The parish offers a number of opportunities to extend a loving hand to a neighbor in need.

More Than a Meal

Every Sunday, Grace-St. Luke's More Than a Meal invites the homeless and hungry to dine in our parish hall side-by-side with parishioners and other members of the community. More Than a Meal provides a hot meal and, in addition, provides the dignity of table service, fellowship, and a break from the invisibilty that many of our guests live.

More Than a Meals needs cooks, servers and other helpers on Sundays between 3:00 and 5:00, as well as more families to dine with our More Than a Meal guests. Please consider being a part of this important ministry.

Foodpantry

Food Pantry

The Grace-St. Luke’s Food Pantry distributes a three-day supply of groceries on an emergency basis to families in crisis. For many families who are facing trauma and who are not (yet) homeless, food pantry assistance can bridge the need to recovery or more long-term assistance. Volunteer sackers work on their own schedule but must come in after 2 on Mondays to prepare for Tuesday pantry hours.

The Food Pantry's coordinators say they are also "always in need of a few good men who can help us old ladies unload the food we pick up every other week."

Unpackers need to have a flexible schedule, be able to lift up to 40 lbs., and be able to respond with only a 2-3 day notice. The time required is usually less than one hour.

Haitipartnership

Haiti Partnership

Grace-St. Luke's is very active in the Diocesan partnership with St. Paul’s Church in Montrouis, Haiti.  This is an ecumenical Millennium Development Goal ministry which concentrates on sponsoring education scholarships for children in elementary school; establishing a water project to provide a ready source of clean water in Montrouis; rebuilding the local health clinic with immunization and nutrition programs; and other critical projects. The group welcomes anyone interested in education, healthcare, construction, and fund raising.

The group has monthly or bi-monthly committee meetings between mission trips which have occurred every other year since the Partnership's inception in 2005.

Outreach Committee

The Grace-St. Luke's Outreach Committee distributes a portion of parishioners' pledges as annual cash grants to community charities in need. Members of the committee review applications and decide on allocations.
