TheReverendOllieVRencher

It is with the greatest pleasure and excitement that we will welcome our new rector, the Rev. Ollie V. Rencher, to Grace-St. Luke's for his first Sunday with us, July 29. Join us for a festive reception following the 10:30 service to visit with Ollie and Ellie and welcome them to GSL.

Father Rencher comes to us having served as rector of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, since September 2012. St. Peter’s is Charlotte’s oldest Episcopal parish and the “mother church” of several congregations in that region. Similar to Grace-St. Luke’s in size, under his leadership it has become an inclusive worship environment with strong programmatic offerings, a growing congregation, warm fellowship and diverse opportunities for prayer in community. Ollie manages personnel development well and parish life programing with grace and love. He works collaboratively with fellow clergy, staff, and parishioners and is known to be intuitive with a sound spiritual presence. Ollie has a love for preaching, liturgy and music, pastoral care, congregational development, and outreach, and has earned the affection and respect of his parishioners and the broader community.

Father Ollie is a native of Mississippi, a graduate of Millsaps College, a Master of Divinity alumnus of The General Theological Seminary of The Episcopal Church and is the grandson of a United Methodist minister. He and his wife, Ellie, have deep local connections and are excited to be returning to Memphis, a move that also will allow them to be closer to family in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Ollie proposed to Ellie on the Chancel steps of Grace-St. Luke’s where they were married in 2010. Ellie works as a project manager for Canticle Communications, a strategic communication firm that serves faith-based entities. Before ministry in Charlotte, Ollie served in as Associate Rector at The Church of the Holy Communion for four years and facilitated their More Than A Meal team’s service at Grace-St. Luke’s. Ollie brings many important gifts to his ministry including a love of music, a fine voice, a quick sense of humor, and a deep commitment to community engagement.

Thanks be to God for our many blessings, and for all the blessings that await us.
